The Taste of Two Lovers. . .

Coffee or chai, they ask. . .
Why does a choice have to be made?
Like it defines your personality,
Like you can only love one. . .
. . .Or can you only have one love?

Of course, there’s my dear coffee…
With its caramelized smell
That sweep me off my feet,
And it’s oh so yummy taste,
Which wakes me from my deepest slumber.
Black coffee without sugar,
For when I’m on a diet,
Or looking for an extra push.
Milk coffee with extra sugar,
For when I need my comfy caffeine,
To deal with the world, so tiring.
And fun filled cold coffee,
Always with some new twist,
That’s my favorite chill pill!
Oh! How I love coffee!

Or. . . is chai the one I love?
She woos with with her aroma,
As she grinds her cardamon with mortar and pestle,
Like an enchantress building a love potion.
Then she adds hot cinnamon and fresh ginger,
A real spice of life!
Throws in a medicinal bay leaf, like I’m sick
And my only cure is her love.
She mixes the magic of the tea leaves
And smooths it out with white milk
Finally, she sweetens her deception with sugar
So, when I kiss the cup, I’m in eternal bliss
And by the time I’ve drunk my fill
I’m head-over heels in love.

I guess I should have known from the start,
There’s many chambers in my heart,
Some secured for coffee,
And some for my dearest chai.
They each have their own magic,
To choose one. . .would be tragic!

      1. I drink coffee daily, too 😊 but I am surprised that chai is so popular in Fiji! Is there a large Indian population there? I just always associated chai with countries like India… Nepal. . .

      1. I’ve read that Clary Sage mixes well with almost any type of fragrance. I think I’m the clary sage of poetry because I can blend with almost anyone =P

    1. Coffee flavored coffee – nice one! I’ve never heard that one before! But I agree!

I’ve found good old fashioned percolators make the best cups of black coffee. Or a Moka Pot with just a regular amount of coffee (not trying to pack it in or add too much)

  1. That also suits me coffee flavoured coffee….I can’t stand all these vanilla added gimmicks. Chai is CHAI….. I love it too….
There is a time for everything, a time for coffee and a time for CHAI…….But coffee like Autumn or Spring is the main ingredient and I love that time of the year.

      1. haha ya I’ve only tried it at a cafe so it’s fresh made latte with the flavor syrup. Oh ya cold coffee I do usually like something sweet and creamy and crunchy from Starbucks. Like a cookie frap

      2. Ok, no I like the classic latte without the fringes attached. In would take a sip but not drink the whole coffee, the flavored sweetness gets too much for me. I’ve never been to Starbucks not one of their franchises so cookie frap I’ve never heard of it.

      3. Haha….I prefer to say filter, you know over the years one gets better. There are so many different ways to prepare home brewed coffee. Depending on the mood, it could be drip, filtered or even a plunger which is quite a special taste. Espresso and cappuccino is also on the beverage menu.
