I wonder at my reflection:
Am I the man you need me to be?

If I made you a bouquet
To represent all of me that I’d give you,

I’d start with jasmine. . .
. . . As a beginning to love and romance.

And I’d mix it with neroli blossoms. . .
. . .For a love that’s pure and innocent.

I’d stick rosemary branches on each side. . .
. . .To guard our love with fidelity and remembrance.

I’d garnish it all with vetiver. . .
. . .To keep us grounded when emotions fly.

And then I’d sprinkle it with sandalwood. . .
. . .To always know and trust who I am.

I wonder at my reflection:
Am I the man you need me to be?
Am I the man I need me to be?

    1. Hahahah I really like that one. Well maybe not pizza but there are plenty of fragrances that smell like food. There was one based off of chai that I always wanted to try

    1. Thanks I’m also a big fan of Jasmine. I have a couple small vines growing in my house, but they don’t bloom a lot I think due to lack of sun. B-)

      1. So far, I really liked Gyan. That was once of my first fragrance poems. I also really like the scent, which I think plays a big role in it. I like this scent, too, but not enough to buy it.

      2. thanks. I just love the fragrance, too. Beautiful patchouli. I like to say I can only write as well as a fragrance inspires me. That’s not always true though – sometimes I just get a stroke of random creativity – even if the fragrance stinks B-)

  1. Hi Jay,
You’re rocking it with the last couple posts! I’ve been loafing for the last month or so but I got a kick in the butt a few days ago. As a result, I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award . I don’t know if you have been nominated before or if you participate in awards so I won’t be offended if you choose not to. I like your unique perspective and inspiration for the poetry you write and I wanted to express my admiration with the nomination.
If you choose to do it, have fun!

    “I wonder at my reflection:
Am I the man you need me to be?
Am I the man I need me to be?”
