Poetry inspired by the fragrances Day and Night from Fragrance One.

I hate the taste of caramel,
Particularly with vanilla,
Like the milkshake we first shared.
That summer night was just the start.
I hate the smell of peaches,
Like under the osmanthus tree
Where we met that day
You broke my heart.
I imagine us day and night;
Night and day.
But now all I’m left with
Is our memory.
I sniff your perfume from
this black bottle that I kept.
But soon you’ll be gone;
Just a few drops of jasmine left.
Why am I disingenuous?
I know I’ll always love you
I’ll always love the things
that remind me of you, too. . .

Beautiful piece, Jay. Sometimes we hate the things / persons coz we once loved them.
This ain’t true in case of dirty DT (D Trump)….there’s hate & disgust…without any love 😉😂

I’m not here to get political but I think love and hate is something we all experience at some point of our lives B-)

That’s true….I felt that my comment on DT was inappropriate the moment I hit the comment button. My bad.

Thanks. I’ve had an amazing time just exploring it. Sometimes I start repeating themes, but at the same time no two fragrances are exactly the same. Each one can take me in a different direction. Anyways, thanks for stopping by!

Oh I can’t stand caramel either. It is definitely not my favourite taste or scent, and most definitely not to be eaten with my favourite ice cream vanilla…..Oh but I do adore the colour especially in cashmere. Yes it is a very tricky construct this thing called caramel, a beautiful name nonetheless.
Peaches!!! How on earth can anyone hate Peaches? The perfect compliment to your cream, but when I think about it, as a scent, these two in combo, you might have a point.
Man those jasmine drops they linger, no, they last forever.
Day and Night – smoky poetry.

haha. well I think it can all be relative in this situation. I suspect if you had a lover than always smelled like caramel, you might feel differently 😉 😉 😉

Hmmm, yes that sent me right into contemplation. It is a great sauce I daresay, many people love it. I also like the essence for baking, just a subtle taste, so a tiny drop. I don’t like my dessert too sweet. Homemade is best, you can balance that suga….

Yes. Actually I don’t do a lot of caramel either. I can’t eat it on it’s own. But I do love it as a syrup over ice cream. Of course it can water down a little that way 😎

Love the conflict of the emotions. Constantly reminds me of the polarity of human nature. The good always brings bad, the dark always brings light. I’m left literally speechless at some lines in the poem. There are so many poets who have mastered the art of imagery, but what you bring with that is an absolute inspired piece owing to fragrance. Symbolically, there’s so much optimism in the poetry motive but the actual lines just hit you with pangs of reality. One thing I take back from this blog is how those melancholic blues always have a wonderful memory to recall. I don’t know if I’m even making sense, but the level of creativity and genuineness here makes me high of every word you right. Please take this as a humble compliment to match the flamboyance of your words. I wait to read something unique and you’ve got it man! Love and peace and all the greetings from Sui generis 💛💛💛
Yours admiringly,
Shanyu.

You know we can not truly ever hate the person we have once loved. It is not possible.
Your poem is a reflection of one of the most needed and felt honesty in a relationship.
Bitter sweet.

Yes. True. Like I was saying to someone else…. hate is not the opposite of love. It’s more like a result of love + hurt
