Hey sugar, I’m just a man from a can.
Been sailing circles in the soapy seas.
But now I’m searching for love (if I can).

Why am I so exhilarating to you?
I remind you of what’s familiar.
I’m like your dad’s old lavender perfume.

But some things never go out of style.
Still a good ole sailor in a striped shirt.
You just haven’t seen me in a while.

Still vibrant enough to go out for fun
When my sweet personality charms you,
Popping your attention like bubble gum.

So lets flirt with the younger years that ceased,
Soften our old memories of good times:
Just sit here and have a cola with me.

  1. “Popping your attention like bubble gum” – wow, I never realized that’s what was happening! Lol.
I’ve always liked the look of those Gaultier bottles, although I might not have seen them in a while either.

    1. Yes. That’s EXACTLY what’s going on 😎 Even though there’s a million new ones, this is based on the original I’m sure you remember. Are you surviving the lack of ability to test perfumes at the store?

      1. I’ve actually been trying to test less and enjoy the perfumes I have more, so that part has been ok for me. That said, just this past weekend I asked at Lord & Taylor on the off-chance whether they had a sample of Narciso Rodriguez for Her and the SA offered to spray some on my hand, which surprised me. I’m glad I tried it, because while it’s nice, it’s a bit too sweet for my current tastes. What about you?

      2. Yes I’ve been a bit sad I can’t smell them but I still have a lot of samples on hand to write about. Meanwhile I’ve been collecting a specific line and just completed my collection. Bulgari Le Gemme for Men

  2. I always loved that name Jean Paul Gautier
One of the best, like a charming I intelligent seasoned and funny gentleman.
I haven’t covered the notes of Le Male…but love the man and would surely enjoy a cola with him for the good times.

  3. “Popping your attention like bubble gum”….oh, you’ll pop a lot of attention like big bubble gum with all that fun…through the fragrance of your wordplay….another beautiful imagery wrapped in this scented bottle

      1. You’re welcome, Jay….I like the way you say “I do try”🤗….your try is more than beautiful with vivid imagery & great depths….I’m doing not so bad actually 😎

    1. By the way, the can idea has two meanings. One is calling a boat a can, a metal container. But this cologne is also famous for coming in a can instead of a box (like popeye’s can of spinach?)

  4. This is flirty fun peppy .. artsy mushy .. felt kinda a groovy touch to these words. I almost felt a come hither look from these vibrant words. Jay , you quite outdo yourself sometimes.
