You see every one of my merits
As things to be wanted,
Like imported spices,
Zests, like precious woods
Spritzed with exotic peppers.

And yes, I have the fire,
The passion,
The confidence
To make you happy;
To play your game
– and win.

But, in reality
Iโ€™m more like a blood orange:
When you cut me
I still bleed red
from this heart of gold

So please,
Lend me your affection
Before this heart of gold
hardens to amber.

I love the softness and how surreal these lines are.

      1. Yes. I think there are some kalan recepie. I had a neighbour from Kerela when I was in South, she use to make some kalan recepie. May I’m mistaken but your poem is beautifully written๐Ÿ’ž

      2. Oh it’s probably possible and I bet it tastes delicious. This brand names their fragrances after famous race horses. But it’s possible it’s a spice too ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    1. So true. You know just how to put a good spin on it. Maybe they can take my amber’ed heart and stick it in a museum somewhere like the ones where a mosquito gets stuck in Amber B-)

      1. A rare glimpse of a poetic heart that rested on a tree of affection but was soon overwhelmed by it’s golden sap, never to escape
