Homesick

In concrete streets of waste and cheap cologne,
The steel denies the iris setting skies.
Where are the fields of vetiver, like home?
The red dirt for roots to deeply grow?

  1. Vetiver looks and smells so lovely in this verse
    Imagine homesick was a fragrance
It could never be one for all
These feelings and smells of homesick are essentially unique
And you speak my thoughts and heart as I read this morning
On waking as memories flood me
Of that wild property and how prayed, played, danced and loved there
In the apartment buildings of different countries too
    Homesick

Your writing is essentially fragrant and unique
I want to touch the red earth, where my roses grow
