I dreamed at night,
a candle lit
A meal fit for a king
Of bread and soup,
a slice of cheese,
For some, that’s everything.
I sat and stared,
was hypnotized,
In no rush whatsoever
A fire dances
beautifully,
Does light not last forever?
But for a minute,
gone again,
The wax consumed by flame.
My time was done,
my soup grew cold
As darkness hungered the same.
