Don’t Wash Away

I cry and cry
and try, I try
to wash my scars away.
I’ve got some scars
that always stay
I scrub them every day.

My mirror shows scars
on the skin,
I’ve got them in the mind
And in the soul,
deep scars within’
There’s no light
In my eye.

But you’ve been good,
so good to me,
Won’t you be good again?
Blind in the darkness,
help me see
When You’ll be good, again.

  1. Your words are a gentle blend of praise and confession. Moving in their honesty.
“Won’t You be good again” is such a tender, aching line. And yet, how faithful God is.
I trust He is more than able to cleanse and renew you—so that your skin, soul, and mind will shine with His goodness once more.
