Lonesome Café

If I had never
met true love,
I’d still know where it lies,
To feel
familiarity
Inside a stranger’s eyes.

Is it my time?
Or just a ruse?
Awakened in my bed.
I’ll walk alone
to some café
A cup might clear my head.

…If I find you,
I’ll never let you go…

If they say Adam
had a friend,
Should I wait for my Eve?
Til’ then I’ll stare
into the eyes
Of cold cups of coffee.

They reprimand
my foolishness
to walk a lonely street.
But it’s more lonely
walking home
Just staring at my feet.
