Illusions of Me.You hear me call with
echoes through the hills;
My voice, a stag, that
leaps o’er valleys deep
If only I were such
an animal,
Close to your residences
I could roam
We’d nibble on your
fruit trees ’til we’re full;
Meander through the
gardens of your home.
But, still afar,
we’re lying, counting sheep
With heavy eyes and
Unsatisfied wills.
Long Night
Seeking delusions,
trusting what I see
From honor I now
sleep disgracefully.
I’m craving peace, but
fearing what I reap
And trembling, my
heart beats silently.
And I’m afraid you will
not answer me.
But, by my side, you let me
sleep in peace
While longing for the
sun upon my face.
Blushing Maples
Among the maples
sits your apple tree.
My canopy, a shade
to offer thee.
I’ll cover you
like warm rains in the fall.
The bees have pollinated;
The birds have liberated.
Now apples, crisp and sweet,
begin to fall.
While in the wind,
a soft scent gently goes
It blows to beckon you,
come near to me,
Your Garden
My heart is overwhelmed
the sun awakes.
And lying in a grave
their lips have made
The wicked hearts live on;
Do you not hate?
Do you not hear?
But for your love, I sing
and I await
While tripping in the trap
their lies have made
Your garden is
a refuge from the snakes.
Bible Verses
If my love were a glass of wine,
how gentle, I would taste
How smoothly over lip and tongue,
with not-a-call to haste.
If my love were an ocean blue,
I’d dive into her eyes.
Her glances are enticing as
her finely crafted thighs.
If my love were a tree of palm
I’d look for hidden fruits.
I’d climb her vine, unbundle grapes,
or shake the apples loose
And if love were a tower, locked,
I’d knock upon her door.
I’d knock until I could no more,
Desires, Evermore.
If my love were the Bible, true,
Her tenets, I’d rehearse.
I’d memorize all of her lines
and nightly, speak her verse.
