Are you just a tale Wrapped up in legend?
A knight riding in, saving the dying?
Or how a Phoenix doesn’t have an end,
But ascends translucent, form-defying?

Stop me from descending in endless deep.
Life has led me in dark, unchaperoned.
I count the days that my lonely soul weeps.
All before I noticed I was alone.

Then, all of the sudden, I breathed you in.
You struck my branches with your rays of sun.
You punched my mind to an awakening,
Like an orange tree waiting for fruit to come.

Still, I know the sun won’t shine every day.
When sunset arrives, I still call your name.
