Waiting for Your Spring (Complete)

“Waiting for Your Spring”

Afraid to lose what
you’ve been hoping for.
Your face, it wears the
seasons that you bear.
Can one forget the feeling
of the sun?
Again, fearing to let
your heart’s hope bud.

Again, you pray,
please God,
don’t take this away.

A frosted branch
puts forth a tiny bud.
Its leaves have never
grown to see the sun.
It wanes as Winter
lasts another year.
Your garden’s never grown
a rose before.

“Is it Time?”

For one night, shall I
grant myself some sleep
And lay me down upon
this lily bed?
A sickness streak is
finally, now, done.
No longer hunger leaves
my stomach light.

And I’m at
a loss for words.

My heavy eyes are
ready for respite
As evening shade sets
in after the sun.
Tonight’s soft musk
intoxicates my head
To, now, allow myself
good news to keep.

“Spring”

You’re unawake in
disappointing dreams
As if your day to dream
has long ended.
Been wrecked by things
you never think will come
And learning to accept
those which you fear.

Until that first heartbeat.

When weights slide off
your shoulders like a tear
And, suddenly, your soul
arrives back home.
Old realities are
now suspended
While you sit,
it still hasn’t hit you yet.

  1. Reading the complete poem

I’m reminded of the moving quote by Albert Camus

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy”

There is someone stronger inside, pushing back.
